For children’s well-being inside out
Target Group
- Children: Young people under the age of 18
Rationale
“Half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age, but most cases go undetected and untreated.
Every child has the right to grow up in loving, nurturing and safe environments, with supportive relationships and access to quality mental health and psychosocial support.”- UNICEF
Mental health encompasses not only an individual’s psychological and emotional well-being but also their physical and social well-being. It is a multifaceted concept that plays a crucial role in the overall quality of life. Unfortunately, according to the National Mental Health Survey (NMHS) conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) in 2015-16, between 70% and 92% of people with mental disorders do not receive proper treatment. This is largely due to a lack of awareness, stigma, and a shortage of mental health professionals.
At Kelir, our mission is to address this treatment gap in mental healthcare by focusing specifically on children. Research shows that many mental health conditions emerge during childhood, making early intervention crucial for effective treatment and support. By prioritising the mental well-being of young individuals and reducing stigma associated with mental health disorders, we aim to provide the necessary resources and programs that empower them to prioritise their mental well-being and access the care they deserve.
