Who we are
Kelir Foundation, incorporated on 9th April 2025, is a
Non-Profit Section 8 Company based in Chennai
(District = Chengalpattu), Tamil Nadu, India.
The word ‘kelir’ (கேளிர்) in the Tamil language means ‘kin’ (உறவினர்), and the Tamil saying “யாவரும் கேளிர்” (yaavarum kelir), meaning ‘all beings are our kin’, is our
prime mover and motto
At Kelir, we embrace the idea that ‘all’ includes every element of our natural world. This intricate web of life is the very foundation upon which our existence as human beings, merely one of its minuscule components, undisputedly depends.
What we do
As Kelir, we focus on advancing inclusive development across four key domains: Education, Sports, Environment and Health. We view these areas as interconnected cornerstones that empower the well-being of today’s and future generations, paving the way for a brighter world.
- In Education, we focus on creating innovative learning initiatives that cater to diverse learning needs, with a strong emphasis on providing resources, opportunities and training for underprivileged children and young adults, fostering a more equitable educational landscape.
- Our Sports endeavours are centred on the development of a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports programs aimed at enhancing health and fitness among children, youth and women.
- Within the Environment sector, we are committed to advocating for sustainable solutions and implementing community-based collaborative actions that address the challenges posed by climate change.
- In the realm of Health, we strive to improve healthcare access and outcomes, emphasising preventive care and wellness programs.
How we Do
Research, advocacy and action are Kelir’s three primary strategic tools.
We collaborate with local communities, civil society, private organisations and government agencies to drive meaningful change that contributes to a more healthy, responsible, resilient and sustainable future society.
